To increase the availability of rail vehicle fleets, operators and manufacturers install condition monitoring systems on the vehicles. The resulting systematic collection of field data is the basis of a continual improvement of the construction and maintenance of rail vehicles. In the absence of standardization, the industry has developed a variety of proprietary data infrastructures in recent years. Up to now, this leads to both technical and organizational obstacles are preventing a cross-manufacturer and cross-operator database.
