Lars Schnieder and Tim-Colin Uhde was published in the current issue (2|2018) of the journal &#8220;Transforming Cities&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>Municipal water management companies procure and operate complex process engineering systems for the treatment of wastewater. In the course of wastewater treatment, substances are changed in terms of their composition, type and properties. Physical, chemical and biological processes are used here. Municipal water management companies strive for a high level of protection to prevent accidents. They also endeavor to comply with all applicable laws and directives when operating their systems. This article examines possible hazards in the operation of wastewater treatment plants based on the process engineering production steps.
