Lars Schnieder, Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Bock and Daniel Pal has been published.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>Railway undertakings must ensure safe and orderly operations in accordance with basic legal requirements. Maintenance plays a major role here. With their maintenance activities, the transport companies are pursuing the goals of high-quality operation from the passengers&#8217; point of view, high vehicle availability for ongoing operations, economic efficiency, particularly in intermodal and intramodal competition, and an improvement in the safety of operations.<\/p>\n\n<p>Thanks to powerful algorithms, digitalization opens up the possibility of predictive maintenance based on comprehensive condition data of the various subsystems of rail vehicles collected during operation.
