V2X for acceleration in light rail systems

In the current issue of the technical journal "Eisenbahntechnische Rundschau" (1-2/2022), an article by PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Lars Schnieder and Dipl.-Ing. Lennart Asbach has been published.


Light rail systems are the backbone of urban mobility in many metropolitan regions. With an increasing demand for transport, the light rail operators are facing the challenge of realising efficient and high-quality public rail transport. The automation of these transport systems requires networking with road transport technology.

In their article in issue 1/2 of Eisenbahntechnische Rundschau 2022, PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Lars Schnieder and Dipl.-Ing. Lennart Asbach from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) shed light on the different system constituents of road traffic technology and present an architectural concept that can be used as a basis for standardizing the complete path between the traffic management center and the light rail vehicles.
