The ESE with presentations at the VDI conference "Technical Reliability"

On 07 and 08 May 2019, the 29th VDI technical conference "Technical Reliability" will take place in Nürtingen. Industry experts will discuss which methods, processes and technologies have proven themselves in practice for improving the technical safety and reliability of complex products. Dr.-Ing. Lars Schnieder and Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing. René S. Hosse will also present solutions for the technical reliability of safety-relevant control systems for motor vehicles in two lectures.

In their first lecture, Dr.-Ing. Lars Schnieder and Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing. René S. Hosse will present "A holistic understanding of safety for the development of safety-relevant electronic control systems for motor vehicles". The article shows how the previously isolated tasks of engineering complex electronic vehicle systems can be integrated on the basis of a common metamodel. They consider not only the completeness of the safety function, but also aspects of automotive cybersecurity and functional safety in accordance with ISO 26262.

In their second lecture on "Generic structuring of safety targets of driving computers for highly automated driving (HAF)", they will demonstrate the requirements for generic safety proofs and outline how these can be seamlessly linked via the concept of "safety-related application rules". In this context, it is shown which contribution the use of a semi-formal notation can provide for the generic structuring of safety targets of driving computers for highly automated driving.
