Detecting error patterns in requirement texts and requirement tracing

In the May issue of the technical magazine Signal+Draht (issue 5/2022) an article by Benjamin Mensing, Karim Oueslati, Florian Haux and PD Dr.-Ing. habil. Lars Schnieder has been published.

The number and complexity of the requirements for software-based systems in railway applications is constantly increasing. Given that requirements constitute the foundation of the development process, their comprehensibility and unambiguity are crucial. In addition, the tracing of requirements throughout the development process serves to provide complete proof of their fulfilment.

In their article, Benjamin Mensing, Karim Oueslati, Florian Haux, and Lars Schnieder present an approach to the automatic analysis of both natural language requirements and the traceability chain itself. This helps to reveal any quality deficits and improves the maintainability and traceability of requirements.
